Snow is falling

We have received from the heavens 6 inches. It is so beautiful coming down. I was going to go into work today but they called and said they were closed. It will make a nice long weekend. I love to search the net so it has been a long lazy day for me.

Earthquake in Haiti

So sorry to turn on the news to hear about the destruction in Haiti. It is so tragic. So many people killed. My heart breaks for all the families. My prayers are for all those who are effected. I remember the tornado that went through our little town a few years ago and deaths that occurred along with the destruction that happened. I also remember the kindness of neighbors and strangers that came in aid of our little town. When tragedy strikes anywhere in the world it should touch all of us because it could happen to any of us.

American Idol

I am looking forward to American Idol coming on tonight. Sorry to hear that Simon will be leaving after this season of Idol. He really makes the show. He is the only one, so far, that tells it like it is. I also wonder what X Factor will be. I'll have to do a search on it later.

Sarah Palin taking Fox News Job

I read this article today. Sounds like she is getting on with her career maybe in a different path than politics. She seems like a lady with guts to take on anything she puts her mind to. I watch Fox News daily so it will be refreshing to see her and listening to her comments. I personally look forward to it. I enjoyed watching Palin during the presidential election. I read another article about her daughter going through a custody battle. Sounds like she has a long row to hoe. I wish her the best of luck.

Thoughts on New Years Dieting

Most every year I think of my New Years Resolutions and like most people DIETING is one of them. Not this year! I know how to lose weight. I've done it plenty of times with many times of success too. It is keeping it off that I have the problem with.
Here is what you have to do to lose the weight. Eat less, exercise more. Simple isn't it. Will power doesn't have any thing to do with it. Determination does. If you have talked yourself into wanting to lose weight and sticking with it, you will do that. Sadly most of the time it only lasts for 2 - 3 weeks and then it becomes boring. Staying motivated is a key point to sticking with losing the weight. Support is extremely important too. Others like a best friend or relative can really help in your weight loss efforts. Being accountable to someone else besides yourself helps more than you can imagine.
Changing the way you eat. Eat less fat, lower calories, more fiber to stay full. Eat more at home with home cooked meals instead of eating out where there is all kinds of fatty high calorie foods. The temptations are too much to bare!
So I chose this year not to worry about my weight. I will be doing more to eat healthier. I'll watch my portion sizes. Cook more at home so I will be in control of what I eat. The choices I make will be better for me but I am not going to join a weight class or group. I'm not going to obsess over losing weight. It's not that I won't do things differently to try to drop a few pounds. I will. I just choose not to commit myself to any regiment. Wish me luck. I'll post my results.

Soldiers Angel's

I sat before a good ole friend today
Clicked a button and my hand upon a mouse
Her eyes how brightly they shined
All in the comfort of my house.

The home page appeared from no where
Do I Yahoo? Do I Google? Which ever I please.
A search which I was about to perform
As my fingers danced across the keys.

I thought to myself what do I want to know about?
I wondered what should I search for?
My eyes wandered down to the captions
The headlines talked about the Iraq War.

I typed "Soldiers"; a list of websites flooded my screen
There was one that caught my eye as I scrolled down
I read it aloud, my interest was peeked
SoldiersAngels.org is the website I found.

"Adopt a Soldier, providing a service from Angels
Of letters and care packages to troops in need"
I wondered, what's this all about?
I wanted to know more of their thoughtful deed.

A click and whoosh away, it carried me there.
Stories of encouragement to our soldiers in harms way
Via letters and emails and packages were sent
To the service Men and Women each day.

Other than material things were sent as well
The prayers that were said to our Father above
"Keep them safe, Bring them home and above all
Let no Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine go unloved!"

This was a group I wanted to join and to get to know
I could write letters and send packages in the mail
I could send support to a soldier, a shoulder to lean on
I can send emails and post cards and baked goods as well

To share ones self is a comforting deed
It makes me feel like I'm helping in some small way
Thanks goes to the Military to complete their mission
Helping our Hero's for the sacrifice they pay.

Fear

The voice I hear is not my own
But someone from far away
I trust in him who teaches me
From class day by day.

Listen with an open mind
Taking it all in.
Tests are long and hard
My patience's is running thin.

Will I pass or fail today?
How much did I retain?
I fear it's not enough I've learned
It's driving me insane!

"The pieces will fit together", he said.
"If you listened, you will see".
Better luck with you I hope, my friend.
It didn't work with me!

Season Time Is Here

The Season Time is in the air
Our hearts are singing joyously
The children dream of wonderful gifts
Of toys beneath the Christmas Tree

We decorate the house and yard
The twinkle of the Christmas Lights
String garland on the mantle place
And stockings filled with sweet delights.

The cards we send are special made
To friends and family far away
To let them know we miss them all
Especially on the Blessed Day.

The sounds of Christmas in the air
The Carolers songs are sung
Through the bitter cold of night
The Christmas bells are rung.

The children nestled in their beds
A Christmas story mother read
Listening to "A Night Before Christmas"
"...And to all a good night", she said.

Sprider Man In All Little Boys

Playing with my grandson and all his little toys
I noticed there's a Spider Man in all little boys.

You see, Spider Man is his favorite toy to play with today.
A silent little action figure is made that special way.

He can be the hero in his little world of care
Fighting all the villains, on the land or in the air.

Casting out his web, as it attaches to a wall
Swinging on a silky thread assured he'd never fall.

Leaping from a building to the next in perfect flight
Stepping in the shadows and lurking in the night.

The Green Goblin is the enemy that Spider Man tries to catch.
With a POW! BAM! BOOM! I think he's met his match.

The fight goes on and blows are cast, what a battle it was
The villain falls to his death, a victory to Spidy's cause.

My grandson gently brings him to the floor and says, "It's over now."
He proudly walks him to greet the crowd and takes a hero's bow.

They cheer for Spider Man for helping them with this foe
Spidy cast his web again and off he did go.

Learning right is right and wrong is wrong is what he said today.
A villain will not win, he'll lose, is what he meant to say.

A valued lesson is slowly learned and taught from what they've heard.
A grandmother watches and listens and hangs on every word.

Today a little man plays a role of a hero with his toys.
Like I said, there's a Spider Man in all little boys.

Santa and Horror

Santa and Horror

Santa came down the chimney in Timmy's house
Quiet is he as still as a mouse.

The presents he left under the tree
One he left was a wide screen TV

He turned it on, he gave it a try
Checked the preview guide and to his wondering eye.

An Old Boris Karloff movie was on
A monster movie, he was very fond.

Santa was a horror movie fan long ago
He sat on the couch and turned the volume down low.

He didn't want to wake anyone in the house you see
As he took down the strung popcorn off the tree.

He settled in to watch "Bride of Frankenstein"
as only Boris Karloff could play so fine.

The monster would roar with agony and pain
Santa with goose bumps all in a strain.

Finally it came to the end of the show
Santa new it was time to go

He cleaned up his mess right down to the floor
Who would had known...Santa liked Horror.

My Grandson

My Grandson

My grandson I describe as best I can
He's a sweet and gentle little man.
Full of life, merriment and wonder
At times, quiet as a lamb and load as thunder.

He has a round little face and fair white skin
Rosy red cheeks and a short little chin.
Deep blue eyes like the sky above
With a small button nose on the face I love.

But most of all what stands out to me
Is the hair on his head is as red can be.
That red hair just makes you feel so good.
Makes you feel better than you actually should.

He calls me on the phone, he sounds like a mouse
"What you doin' NANA? Can I come to your house?"
"I play with your toys? We can make things too!
With paper and crayons and markers and glue!"

He's his daddy made over when I watch him sleep
Never giving any trouble, he's such a joy to keep.
He's the best little fella so gentle and mild
He's grander than grand, my little grandchild.

This is a poem I wrote back in 2004 for my grandson Caleb.
Poems, Stories, Notes, Thoughts, and More

January 3, 2010
The New Year is upon us. Normally I make resolutions like need to lose weight, No more drinking soda's, or more exercise. This year my New Years Resolutions are different. I want to do the things I enjoy. I am going to take more time for the things I enjoy doing. I am a busy person like so many people now a days. I spend most of time for others. Don't get me wrong I enjoy helping others specially my family. But I don't need to put me on the back burner all the time.
I enjoy writing poems, stories, making crafts, cooking, sewing, making jewelry, scrapbooking. These are a few of the things I am going to do.
I love going to church with my husband and family. We have a great church family too. They are the best! Really enjoyed the preachers sermon today. Topic was about there's nothing you have done that God wouldn't forgive you for. Our preacher is a young man and his energy and enthusiasm is contagious. He and his wife are so sweet. We are lucky to have them with us.
Life is good and post more later.
